With the fantastic vatiety of craft beers available in the North East of Scotland and beyond it is great to sit and enjoy a beer with family and friends. It is important to remain aware of how to enjoy alcohol responsibly and be mindful of the effects it can have on physical and mental health.

The Scottish Government recommends that both men and women drink no more than 14 units of alcohol a week, spread over three days, with several alcohol free days a week. Pregnant women should not consume any alcohol during pregnancy. If these guidelines are followed then a person’s overall risk from alcohol consumption is considered “low risk”. There are many ways to help reduce you overall alcohol intake without reducing your overall enjoyment. Alternating alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic drinks and choosing lower alcohol options can all be useful options as can choosing smaller measures or glasses of your normal drinks.
